Drafting With Dwayne Pt1
Ok, here is my first video recording of Zen Draft, because James is too weak to man up and draft it. (Ok, it's a pretty bad format...)
Attempt #1 at recording video from my PC, tell me what you think!
Looking back there were quite a few mistakes, in both playing and in drafting. There were points in the draft I could have slipped into green or blue and had quite a few more allies. As well, picking Stonework Puma over Hideous End was likely very wrong, as the deck turned out in the end. Part 1 is the draft, and is included below. Part 2 will be coming up soon, with videos of the matches.

p1p4 – hookmaster > shortcutter in general, but not an additional color better. You haven’t been passing good white means you haven’t been passed good white either. Stay on color there.
p1p5 – baloth > unstable footing in my opinion, even having taken the hookmaster. Not sure what this ally hard-on is, Kazuul Warlord is definitely good but I think you got too focused on him.
p2p1 – Thank you for not picking Steppe Lynx. Elemental Appeal is okay, torch slinger is okay, I would have picked umara raptor though considering the allies fetish you’re exhibiting throughout. It’s not a horrible choice but…
Rest of pack 2 – Torch slinger over Umara Raptor twice, then sell sword over giant? Not sure I follow on the internal logic, if there is any, here.
Throughout the draft it looks like green would have been better than white, and I wasn’t surprised you ended up cutting the color.

I’m only half way through the second video, but p1 p4, I see no reason to deviate from red. While shortcutter is worse than hookmaster, he’s fine for mono red. You have seen almost no white up to this point.
Also for pack2 pick 1, why don’t you consider elemental appeal? The appeal is very good in mono red. Ok back to drafting…
